Jeremy in Galicia

Just another WordPress.com site

Where am I?

My home for the next eight months or so will be Ribeira, a relatively small fishing village located in the autonomous community of Galicia in the northwest corner of Spain.  Spain is divided into 17 “comunidades autónomas.”  These are more or less equivalent to states in the U.S.  Following the Spanish transition to democracy in the late 1970s, three of these “comunidades” were given special historic recognition due to their unique cultural and linguistic traditions.  Galicia is one of these regions (along with Cataluña and the País Vasco).

Thanks to our folks at Google, here is a link to a map pinpointing my location: See where I am

I am in the outskirts of Santa Uxía de Ribeira, the largest municipality in the area with about 10,000 of Ribeira’s 25,000 – 30,000 inhabitants.  Check out this site to learn more about Ribeira: Learn about Ribeira
